the countryside and catch the cherry blossom season at its best. Soak
up the atmosphere of rustic villages plus the experience of walking
through majestic castles and beautiful temples. See Japanese handicrafts
and local shopping areas and experience a 350 year old farm village.
Stay in comfortable hotels and travel by bullet train to explore Kyoto,
the traditional capital, and bustling Tokyo. Tour includes strolls through
exotic locations, streets of Geisha houses in Kyoto familiar to many
travellers from movies such as “Memoirs of a Geisha”. Visit
many hidden places which other package tours do not offer.

1 SYDNEY/NARITA
Day flight to Narita Airport and transfer to Tokyo hotel. |

Day 2 TOKYO
Morning tour to Tokyo Tower observatory, Asakusa Temple and stroll
down the colourful Nakamise shopping street, Ueno and Ginza. Dinner
at hotel. |

Day 3 MT.
FUJI & HAKONE
Morning, leave by motor coach for a full day tour of Hakone National
Park, visit the famous Mt. Fuji and enjoy picturesque Hakone including
a Lake Ashi ferry trip. Lunch included. Return to Tokyo.

4 TOKYO - TAKAYAMA
Travel by bullet train to Nagoya and then on to Takayama, whose
isolation has allowed Edo period streets, lined with tiny shops,
museums and eating places, to survive to this day. Enjoy Takayama
Onsen hot spring bath at resort. |

Day 5 TAKAYAMA
-SHIRAKAWAGO-KANAZAWA
Enjoy Takayama’s morning market. Travel to Shirakawago Ogimachi,
a small world heritage listed village, nestled in the mountains
beside a pristine mountain river. After soaking up the atmosphere,
travel to a Japanese rice paper workshop by motorcoach and learn
how traditional paper is made. Upon arrival at Kanazawa visit
the local bustling Omichi Market. Check-in at hotel. |

Day 6 KANAZAWA
Visit Kanazawa’s old geisha district igashiyama
, Gold Leaf craft work shop, Kutani pottery work shop, Kenrokuen
garden, one of Japan’s most famous gardens and samurai residential
area. Afternoon free at leisure. |

Day 7 KANAZAWA
- KYOTO
Morning, travel to Kyoto by JR trains. After checking in at hotel,
visit Kiyomizu temple overlooking the city. Part of the fun of
visiting Kiyomizu temple is the approach to the temple along the
steep and busy lanes of the atmospheric Higashiyama district. |

8 KYOTO & NARA
Full day sightseeing tour of Kyoto & Nara, isiting Golden
Pavilion, Nijo Castle, Imperial Palace or Heian Shrine. After
lunch at the Kyoto handicraft centre, travel to Nara visiting
Todaiji-temple, deer park and Kauga shrine. Return to Kyoto |

DAY 9 KYOTO
- HIROSHIMA - KYOTO
Early morning, catch a Bullet train to visit Miyajima
Island and the famous floating Itsukushima Shrine and world famous
Torii gate.
Then travel to Hiroshima to view the Peace park (Atomic Bomb Museum).
Late afternoon return to Kyoto.

DAY 10 KYOTO-KISO
VALLEY (MAGOME & UMAGO) – TOKYO
Travel to Tsumago, a town seldom visited by group tours, where
cars are banned and signs of modernity such as power lines are
hidden to maintain the old style ambience. After strolling along
the old streets and soaking up the atmosphere, travel on to Tokyo. |

DAY 11 TOKYO
Day at leisure.
Visit Nikko or perhaps go to Tokyo Disneyland, or to Ginza and
Roppongi for window shopping, or to the electrical town of Akihabara.
Your tour coordinator will help organise your activity. Optional
tours available with English speaking guides.

DAY 12 TOKYO
- AUSTRALIA
Free time until 4:30pm when we will leave for Narita Airport to
catch our flight to Australia. Enjoy your last day in Japan with
some last minute souvenir hunting or some optional half day activity.
Perhaps some shopping or follow your tour guide to visit Harajuku
Takeshita dori, Omotesando. |
